American Composer
RODGERS, RICHARD. (1902-79). American composer.
Typed Letter Signed, “Richard Rodgers,” on his name-imprinted
stationery. One page, quarto. “598 Madison Avenue, New York
22, N.Y.,” December 3, 1969. Very fine condition. To “Miss
Clarice Mitchell, 29 Paragon Buildings, Rodney Road, London, S.E.17.,
England.” Rodgers writes:
“Dear Miss Mitchell: I was so pleased
with your letter and my various Christmas gifts. It is so good to
be remembered each year and so generously. I use all your presents
with great joy. There isn’t any news to you regarding Lincoln
Center but I am at work on a Broadway show which I hope to finish
within the year. My only other news is the fact that I had a bad heart
attack in July but am now completely well and happy. This is also
true of the family. The grandchildren are all large, healthy and great
fun. I hope this finds you well and enjoying yourself. Thanks again
for your great kindness. Yours sincerely, Richard Rodgers.”
