Monet laments “My poor teeth.”

MONET, CLAUDE. (1840-1926). French impressionist painter. Autograph Letter Signed, “Claude Monet,” in French, on his imprinted Giverny par Veron, Eure stationery. Two pages, octavo. Giverny, France, April 12, 1916. Very fine condition. Accompanied by original envelope addressed to “Monsieur G[ustave] Geffroy, 42 Ave. des Gobelins, Paris,” with stamp and postal cancellations. Monet writes:

“Dear friend, If you intend to invite me to the next Goncourt luncheon, I will be grateful to you to let me know as soon as you can, it being understood that I have to come to Paris often for my poor teeth, which bother me a lot. So it will be easy for me to coincide my trip so as not to waste time and to have the pleasure of seeing you. A note, all right? Yours, Claude Monet.”
